“Enjoy life sip by sip, not gulp by gulp”
– The Minister of Leaves
A person just alarmed me. “We only live once”. Why not just enjoy?
The sudden crave for an afternoon tea session dropped by again with the BFF.
After a few sessions feeding on scones and fruit teas, we vowed to hunt for more. We do fancy the quaint & posh servings from TWG Tea, the comfort of Pavilions Lounge and the prettiest tea we’ve seen at Bistro42. But still, searching for the perfect ambiance plus great afternoon tea in terms of taste to match everything in place is still a quest. We’re gonna enjoy life sip by sip. Yes!
The Lobby Lounge @ Ritz Carlton KL…
Was where we found our new love for tea & pastries.
FYI, The Lobby Lounge serves cocktails, specialty coffees, traditional Afternoon Tea, the Delightful Sunday Roast and all day dining. But we were here for the traditional Afternoon Tea agenda 🙂
Upon entering, we were greeted by friendly staffs who ushered us gently to our cosy corner with a great view of the live afternoon harpist performance. Yes, they have a harpist who played like an angel! With this soft touch of entertainment, the Lobby Lounge is definitely the epitome of a sophisticated and relaxed ambiance provider.
Traditional English Afternoon Tea @ the Lobby Lounge, Ritz Carlton KL
Available daily from 3 to 5 pm
RM75++ per person (*a set can be shared by 2)
- A pot of tea (you can choose from the 40 blends of specialty teas provided) – refillable
- 3-tiers of delectable treats
Once seated, you’ll be warmed up by the excellent and attentive service that the staffs here provide. Around 40 tea blends were wheeled before us and he started explaining the differences of each teas with great recommendations of which types of tea that will suit our palate as well. Kudos to them. Their specialty teas from Ronnefeldt ranged from black, green, herbal and fruit teas.
We chose one of their Fruit Tea blend – Raspberry Royal and an additional pot of Black Tea – the Classic Orange Pekoe for RM27++
You would fall in love with their settings and servings too. Their teapots and teacups are stately fine china with a nice touch of the teapot warmers beneath to keep the tea warm and this definitely maintained the delightful tea aromas. The teas are refillable too and even after a few rounds of refills, the Ronnefeldt blends are still as great.
Classic Orange Pekoe
We started off with the savouries: Beef Quiche, Chicken & Mushroom Pie, freshly Baked Apple Scone & Plain Butter Scone.
The pastries were infused with great buttery taste with a hint of sweetness in them. The scones were light and also buttery. They were served with butter and whipped cream in a shot glass and jams from Bonne Maman – Raspberry, Strawberry preserves and Bitter Orange Marmalade.
The middle tier: Finger Sandwiches
Cucumber fingers, Bread with Ham & Cheese & Smoked salmon on bread roll.
Each item were freshly made and the breads were awesome 🙂
The top tier: Sweet Ending
Mango Cheesecake with Choco border, Berries Tarlet with edible gold leaf, Honey Shortcake with Nuts topped with Strawberry Mousse and Chocolate Jelly, Berry Macaron and the Chocolate & Orange éclair.
Love the mangoes but the cheesecake were a bit dry. The berries were fresh and its pastries were buttery too.
We love their shortcake with Strawberry Mousse best. Every layer has a different texture and taste 🙂
