Xiao Fei Yang 小肥羊 @ Off Jalan Pudu, KL

Pretty sure when I mentioned Xiao Fei Yang, most of you would shout “má là” 麻辣!Yes, I did too.
It was when we planned a birthday session for Citygal during her special day. We had so much fun laughing off at each other’s juicy red lips after tasting and gobbling away with our tremendous orders for the herbal and ‘mala’ steamboat.

Herbal Chicken Soup and Ma La Peppercorn Seed Soup: the Yin Yong Soup 麻辣汤 (RM 22)
It was really kicking off our appetite. Sweats and heat that we can’t avoid although we were seated comfortably in an air-conditioned restaurant. Despite that, we still manage to sweep the food away.
Define “mala”? Chili oil drenched into the peppercorn soup that creates a numbing and tingling sensation on the tongue. “Yum”

Sterilized utensils like those in China, we’ve to pay RM1 for hygienic purpose.

More sauces to go with the cooked ingredients from our hotpot. Extra kick!

  1. There is quite a few places that offer this Sterilized utensils concept, which I personally think is not very environmental friendly.
Imagine the millions of plastic wrapper from it being dispose everyday worldwide especially in China. Unless they are using the bio-degradable plastic which I doubt so.

  2. Nice birthday celebration there, I'm sure CityGal like it so much!

And look at the beef slices, it's so tempting although we can't eat beef :/

A very good post there, jia you jia you! Will be waiting for your coming posts~

  3. i miss the day with you guys. the steamboat, the 2couples and the celebration! miss it lot 🙂

    when's next?
(seems like i ask this ques too often liaoz)

  4. Omg, the food looks really great. Especially the beef slices..really omf..So tempting!

  5. The yin yang steamboat looks spicy! I wonder if it's as deadly as it looks. I love spicy food!

I've seen this place before but never had the urge to go in.

Nice presentation on the steamboat ingredients, better than most, at least they make the effort to roll it up. Heh!

  6. walaueh, so nice the food. too bad i am far,

  7. Yum, I love xiao fei yang, too bad the price aint cheap, -_- can only have it really once in blue moon… ^^

  8. Always pass by but never try. May be should suggest to my gang to have a visit. But RM1 for that utensils…errrr! Don't agree with this strategy lor…

  9. At first the mala is quite nice but after eating for about 30 minutes, there's some funny feeling on my tongue that's quite annoying.

  10. Sterilized utensils for RM1 each set?
I wonder how if I do not wish to use them. Bring my own? 🙂

    Not as environmentally friendly though.

Anyway, thin slices of lamb is perfect for steamboat.

the utensils, think the follow their practice in China for hygienic purposes. That's why it's kinda odd to see it here.
