These include eight treatment pavilions, a deluxe Belian Treatment Pavilion, three ‘Healing Huts’, which include Chinese Herbal, Ayurvedic and Malay Huts, two Bath Houses, three Spa Huts, three Nap Gazebos and a Spa Boutique. 22 beautiful Spa Villas situated over the sea offer direct access to the Spa Village.

Here’s a glimpse of our wonderful & unforgettable spa experience with Pangkor Laut Resort during the “Babymoon”!:

The setting at the Spa Village is very beautiful, idyllic yet luxurious, with every corner carefully decorated with lots of greenery and water features. The surroundings definitely makes one feels so relaxed and refreshing.

While waiting at the nicely decorated lounge area, we were each served with a welcome drink: a refreshing glass of lemongrass juice.

We were also told to come 45 minutes earlier to enjoy their Signature Bath House experience, which is a complimentary treat before every spa treatments. Taking my pregnancy into consideration, the attentive staffs were very careful with me 🙂 Well trained, they know the dos and don’ts for me.

Bath House Experience Ritual
1. Foot pounding
This was traditionally practiced in feudal China, where it was a status symbol to have a 3-inch lotus feet; where the feet of young girls were bound to keep them small. Women with bound feet frequently received foot pounding to seek relief from pain. The foot was carefully unwrapped and soaked in a basin of warm soapy water, dried and the soles are pounded.
Foot pounding, is believed to improve blood circulation.
For me, I skipped the foot pounding and just washed my feet with soapy warm water instead.

We were then escorted to the respective bath houses. They have separate bath houses for male and female.

At the changing area, I was asked to remove my clothings and kept all my belongings in a locker provided. A brown sarong was then wrapped professionally by the staff. With my locker key pinned onto my sarong throughout the whole spa experience, I was then taken to the next section.

Before entering the Malay Bath, don’t forget to stop by the wishing well, toss in a coin & make a wish. *Wink*

2.Malay Bath
In the traditional kampung or village, the Malay family walked to the nearest river to bathe, wrapped in sarongs. Waterfalls were useful for rinsing hair. It was really beautiful & fun at the same time. The water was cold initially, but I soon got used to it. Went through the waterfall feature and into the bathing pool to rinse myself.

At the end of the Malay bath, we enjoyed a refreshing herbal inhalation, with choices of Passion, Calming, Uplifting & Detox by using a combination of herbs and flowers from frangipani blossoms to citrus peel, chrysanthemum blossoms to peppermints in four steam boxes. Just lean over & breathe deeply! I just felt so refreshed and calm after this.

3. Japanese Bath
I was then lead to the Japanese bath house to proceed to a Japanese-style cleansing session that started by scrubbing the body with a Goshi-goshi cloth. Wet the cloth with some bath gel, wash the body, and use the wooden dipper to pour water over myself while sitting on the little wooden stool before stepping into the heated Rotenburu pool.
And as for me, I was asked to soak my feet into the hot Rotenburu pool instead of soaking myself in as I’m pregnant. While doing so, I was served with hot green tea and a magazine was provided for me too. How thoughtful!

4. Shanghai Scrub
Next up was the Shanghai Scrub. The setting of the room has the oriental touch 🙂
It was previously, traditionally offered exclusively to males in Shanghai during the old days. Now ladies get to enjoy it too here. As for Chris, he was told to lie down on the platform where he gets his back scrubbed thoroughly with a body brush and rinsed with sizzling hot water. For myself, I was told to sit upright instead of lying on my tummy, I mean bump. Haha.

Feeling clean and freshened up, I was then wrapped in a batik sarong of my choice from the different colours and patterns provided, which I got to even bring it home! Guess what? Chris and I chose the exact same colour! 🙂

After that, we were lead back to the Library area; a pavilion facing the sea while waiting for the spa treatment service with another cup of tea.
We really enjoyed the whole bathing rituals that has helped us to slow down, unwind & prepare our mind and body for the spa treatments.

Spa Experience at Spa Village Pangkor Laut:
Pregnancy Massage (80 minutes) for Christine
Campur-Campur (105 minutes) for Chris
The name Campur-Campur means a blending of varieties in Malay. Combining the best techniques of Malay and Thai massage, their special creation uses touch, tone and aromatherapy to give Chris a memorable experience. The scent of lemongrass and pandan leaves fills the air as steamed herbs are pressed along the body using a traditional steam pouch.

This was what we went for 🙂

We ushered into a private treatment room for the both of us. Which Chris enjoyed his Campur-Campur, I got to enjoy my Pregnancy Massage. The well trained, highly experienced masseur of mine was really good in detecting sore points on my body. Using mild rolling motions, long strokes and acupressure, she kneaded and ironed out the knots in my muscles that I had during pregnancy. She was really careful with me, asking if I’m feeling comfortable all the way as I’m lying on my sides. While listening to the soothing background music, I dozed off really fast. But with the pregnancy symptoms I’m having, frequent urination that is, I’ve to get up in the middle of the therapy for a pee. Haha.

After the massage, it is best to take a stroll in the beautiful landscape garden of the Spa Village.

Or perhaps take a dip at the Spa Village’s very own beautiful infinity pool which offers a great view of the sea.

After the satisfying spa experience, we then proceeded for lunch.

Jamu Bar

Jamu bar serves a light and wholesome menu of Japanese classics such as noodles, tempura, sushi and sashimi for lunch. This sophisticated restaurant is located in an enclave of Spa Village overlooking the lapping Straits of Malacca. Dining on a lazy afternoon after a relaxing pampering session, overlooking the sea with breezes that brushes our face, it was one amazing moment.

We started off with some of their refreshing drinks:
Island Cooler – RM15
Pineapple, apple, cucumber & ginger

Ginger Magic – RM15
Apple, Carrot & Ginger

Hotate-gai to Shiitake – RM65
Warm scallops on a bed of shiitake mushrooms & salads with soy dressing. The fresh scallops and shiitake complements with each other’s taste. Drizzles of soy sauce brought out the fragrance even more.

Ramen – RM40
The noodle texture were just ordinary but I love the clear soup base. Topped with hard boiled egg, bean curd skin, seaweed. If they used flavoured eggs with runny yolks instead, that would have scored them more points.

DSC_2901

Ebi Tempura – RM45
The batter weren’t up to our expectation and a bit too much flour we thought. Nonetheless, prawns were fresh.

DSC_2920

Pangkor Deluxe Bento – RM275
A selection of sushi, sashimi & maki. Chris had to have this all by himself as I’m restricting myself from raw meat during pregnancy. Fresh sashimis, he love the cuts!

Unagi Robatayaki – RM45
We fell in love with this piece of grilled eel immediately. Juicy, flavoursome & filled with a smoky flavour that we’re pretty sure you’ll love too.

After lunch, we went back to our water villa to pack. Leaving our heavy hearts with Pangkor Laut Resort, we will definitely be back near future for more indulgence and self pampering!

  1. Hi,

May I check since you are pregnant… did you still go to the hot pool in the spa?

    THank you.

    1. Hi Ong,
I was asked to soak my feet into the hot Rotenburu pool (hot pool) instead of soaking myself in 🙂
      While enjoying my tea 🙂

      1. Hi Christine,

Thanks for your prompt reply… hahahah so it seem that being pregnant will fall short a little on the whole experience ?

I wanted to buy the 3 hour spa… but now maybe I will have my second thoughts..

Sorry just checking for the seafood you order… did you skip the clams and mussels?

        Thank you.

        1. Hi Jill,

Yea… since I’m pregnant so the experience will be shortened. That’s the only downside. Haha
My pregnancy massage is about 80 minutes while Chris enjoyed his 105 minutes campur-campur massage. But the Bath house experience would be roughly the same time.
And yes.. I skipped the clams and mussels 🙁 So pity…
          Chris had them all. LOL.
When will you be going? 🙂
          Enjoy your holidays!

          1. Hi Christine… I will be going in December… sadly I haven’t even pass my first trimester when I am there… so many things can’t do and eat arrrgh…. and I planned this trip way back haiz…. dunno to be sad or happy hahahaa.
