Rice米aurant @ Bangsar Village 2

We just stepped into another restaurant by the BIG group 🙂
Applauding BIG for a breakthrough from their usual hi-tea and bistro cafe concept, nothing beats a proper Chinese meal when it comes to a gathering with tittle-tattles of the cutleries forking up dishes accompanied with a hot bowl of rice. This just happened at Ricetaurant.

Rice米aurant

Rice = 米 in chinese
A place that aim to tribute to our Asian staple food where they portrayed their ambiance with tiffin carriers & old school cutleries to project shophouses and alleyway stall of the yesteryear where homestyle Chinese family meals are found. They created reminiscent.

Located just opposite The Borders and side by side with Canoodling (another restaurant by BIG) where patrons can actually order from each other’s restaurant as well.

Cute Schoolbook Menu

Som Tam Crispy Softshell Crab Salad – RM11.90 (from Canoodling)
Spicy green papaya slaw with long beans, cherry tomatoes & dried shrimps laden with crunchy peanuts. Very appetizing!

Soup of the Day: Watercress Soup – RM5.90
We found mom’s taste in it and reminded us to eat home more often haha 🙂

Ayam Percik & Salted Egg with Nasi Ulam – RM19.90
*served with soup of the day and Dessert
Comes in a set of 3 course, the portion is quite huge. Flavoursome spicy thick gravy coating the chicken mixed with salted eggs, crunchy vegetables and rice made a great nasi ulam dish.

Claypot Chicken, Yam & Dried Shrimps with NamYue sauce – RM15.90
I love yam. Anything with it would be a star and this was not otherwise. Very tasty concentrated gravy and best served with white rice.

Braised Ginger Duck with Rice – RM18.90
Another tasty portion of meat. Nicely cooked and not too overly braised.

Sweet & Sour Fish – RM19.90
A rather ordinary sweet & sour dish somehow but the fish was soft and smooth.

Four King Belacan Vegetables – RM12.90

Dessert: Red Bean Soup from the Ayam Percik Set.
Overly sweet 🙁

Verdict: Decent Chinese meals (except the red bean soup) which are not too overly priced considering the portion and also the location… Well, you could say it’s just another “expensive tai-chow place” but we wouldn’t complain as it’s in BV 2 🙂 Plus, you get to order from Canoodling 😛
