El Meson @ The Waterfront, Desa Park City

Whether you’re out for a night of group dining at one of the city’s best tapas restaurants or looking for a first-date restaurant to cozy up with charcuterie plates and a glass of wine, this is one of the best Spanish restaurants in town and now it has open its door at the ever-so-happening & vibrant Desa Park City.

El Meson

1st outlet tucked away in Bangsar, you’ll encounter the sprawling Spanish hotspot that is El Meson, with its second branch at The Waterfront, Desa Park City. The menu provides various options – tapas, platters, a tasting menu and at weekends, tempting brunches with a Spanish twist. The informal, fun atmosphere makes El Meson a great place to come with a group for a lively night out! Just like us!

Also, they will be very well known for having the friendliest and most attentive waiting staff one can ever find in town. Just have to give a shoutout to one of their staff – Mike. He’s like a first name basis with their many regular customers.

I a huge fan of Spanish cuisine and I love tapas.
But it’s been sometime since we last visited El Meson at Bangsar HERE

Here are some of El Meson’s new food items on their menu!

Alubias con Almejas – RM20
White beans stewed with fresh clams in a Spanish green sauce. Packed with fresh seafood flavour and this savoury dish enhances our palate. Wish I could have some bread to dip clean the sauce! Haha.

Escargot a la Crema – RM30
Sauteéd escargots and mushrooms with garlic & shallots served in a puff pastry.
I’ve never had escargots our of its shell and now in a puff pastry? Thats something new.

Paella Salsa Verde – RM68
Clams & Artichoke in Spanish green sauce.
The shallow depth of a traditional Spanish paella pan ensures the classic texture with a slight crust on the bottom. Not really my personal preference for this dish as we find it quite bland. Maybe we are so used to having those rich-flavoured Seafood Paella & Squid-ink Paella in other Spanish joints or in Barcelona itself. Haha.

Smoked Duck Breast Salad – RM30
Served with baby Romaine lettuce, raspberry dressing and caramelised onion.

Pluma Iberica de Bellota – RM58
Iberico premium pork steak, sliced and served with homemade fries and mesclun salad.
They resemble beef steaks in appearance and texture, and this preparation was really juicy & tender too. Great execution by the chef.

Grilled Salmon – RM 48
Salmon steak in meuniere sauce with capers, lemon butter sauce and spinach in a bed of pumpkin puree. The sauce was really appetizing with hints of sweetness.

Queso de Cabra – RM24
Oven baked goat’s cheese in light filo pastry with pumpkin jam and caramelised shallots
A highly recommended dish as the blend of sweet, salty & smokiness was just perfect.

Carpaccio – RM24
Beef tenderloin carpaccio with mustard dressing, capers, pistachios & cheese
Beef carpaccio makes an elegant starter for any gourmet dinner party. The beef were all thinly sliced and the addition of pistachios added more interesting bite-y texture.

What’s more tantalizing without a drink or two and it’s a must to check out their Sangria for sure!
Tropical Coconut Sangria – RM36
This is their best-selling item on their drink menu. Love how they blend the Asian touch by using coconut into this alcoholic beverage of Spanish origin. Refreshing!

Lychee Sangria – RM87 per Jug
Lovers of both lychee & sangria, this is the perfect combination. They are amazing with white wine base.
