Torii @ Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), KL

The Japanese are masters of patience. But, when it comes to grilling, they don’t do the low-and-slow-then-let-it-rest thing. They do yakitori!
Yakitori traditionally means grilled chicken, but it has come to refer generally to the beautiful ritual of sliding the prized parts of the animal like ox tongue, little chicken hearts, fatty pork jowls, tender octopus tentacles etc onto skewers, brushing on a layer of tare or sake, rotating them above an open fire until moist and charred in all the right places—and eating immediately! (Well maybe not for us cos need to take pictures haha)

And imagine having piping hot yakitori with some Japanese booze like beer or whisky!
Let’s do it at:

Capitalises on splashes of warm lighting, dark and wooden surfaces, but despite being infused with Japanese influenced decor, it’s also incorporated with some modern touches – a Japanese-accented gastro-bar. Huge posters of Japanese whiskies adorning walls, with more whiskies info next to it.
Despite being such a hip place, the traditional dishes are still done right with a range of unique Japanese-inspired dishes in the culinary spotlight.

Every Wednesdays and Thursdays all night long at Torii TTDI outlet, enjoy Kirin or Heineken Beer at only RM10 per glass!

It was really a waste that they didn’t serve Kirin Beer on the night we visited so we have to settle for Heineken instead. Anyways, RM10 per glass is quite a deal!

They have quite a variety of Japanese inspired food on their menu. I personally prefer having just yakitori and beer / drinks. Their mains wasn’t that bad but it was just ok for us. Very flavour-packed but they lack the wow factor still.
