Crab Factory : Original Louisiana Boil @ SS2

We recently visited a Southern American-inspired conceptualized seafood joint that serves up fresh seafood in Cajun style known as seafood boil. It aims to ignite your five senses by bringing back the harmonious spirit of fresh tasty seafood and unassuming dining atmosphere all under one roof.

Crab Factory : Original Louisiana Boil

Located at the busy hub of SS2, this is where seafood comes in a bucket with no utensils given, providing a rustic experiences of enjoying food through your bare hands. Finger licking good definitely with enjoyment of seafood and beers with family and friends, much like the Southern Americans who infuse Creole and Cajun cooking into their culture of relaxed backyard affairs of shared meals and large seafood boils. This is some serious chow down.

Utensils for the meal. Yes, you’ll need an apron.

Their concept is inspired by an adventurous summer road trip where the owner experienced a melting pot of Louisianan culture: the backyard Crab Boil. They were immediately hooked and eager to introduce these new and exotic flavours to Malaysia with those aromatic blend of seasonings and spices. Adding to those fresh seafoods are rustic fixings of sausages, potatoes and sweet corn!

Another seafood friend that has recently been added into their menu is Spanner Crab!
We’ve tried these cute crustacean during our Gold Coast Australia holiday and finally we get to feast on them again here at Crab Factory!
And they are originally red! This is not cooked yet!
Spanner crabs inhabit coastal waters along the east coast of Australia.

Gumbo – RM14.90
Southern heartwarming soup that is made up of mixed seafood and a little rice too. Very rich, creamy and satiating. I didn’t stuff myself too much with Gumbo as I need to reserve some space for seafood.

Ta-Da!
The cooked giant Brown Crab!
In Jamba-Jamba style added with corn and enoki mushrooms.
The simplest, underrated item on the table would be corn. I found the corn cobs satisfyingly sweet and could easily have a couple of these at one go. Not forgetting the main character of course, the crab was so fresh and “meaty”!

Baby Octopus in Garlic Butter
With Potatoes and button mushrooms.
It can get a bit exhausting to be constantly peeling apart shell after shell, really.
If you are tired of handling all the crustaceans and octopus, pop a lightly garnished potato for a carbo fix. I love seafood in garlic butter sauce!

The mess that we love and enjoyed creating 🙂

Fresh seafood is boiled in Crab Factory in-house sauces or broth, bringing a comfy, homey taste without compromising on the freshness of the sea catches.
However, I still love the lightest taste the most although we understand the conceptual taste of cajun spices as the main star spices used. I love garlic butter as t is only lightly seasoned, complimenting the taste of ocean.

Louisiana boilis probably not the best thing to order on a romantic first date if you want to look prim and proper and not like a hungry savage like us, but definitely a different eating experience with friends after a long day at work as they promised us tasty fingers by the end of our meal.
Thank you Crab Factory for having us!
