La Crêperie de Caroline @ Telawi 3, Bangsar

The wonderful wafer-thin French pancakes called crêpes fill a niche in contemporary dining. Made with light sauces and fillings, they suit today’s passion for healthy fare.
Fast to assemble and ballooning with a voluptuous variety of savoury fillings, from vegetables and herbs, seafood, poultry, and meat. These crêpes can serve as appetizers, first courses, and entrées. Filled with seasonal fruit, souffles, sauces like everyone’s favourite nutella, sorbets, or ice cream, they become sumptuous desserts!

One of France most famous culinary export, the crêpe is everywhere in Paris. You’ll see numerous stands flaunting Nutella or ham & cheese crepes across the city, best paired with a traditional glass of cider, but we have never been to any of their Parisian crêperie restaurants during our stay in Paris.

Crêpes are popular not only throughout France, but elsewhere around the world, where they go by other names and adaptations. And we’re glad these are available in KL.

Caroline’s serves authentic french sweet & savoury crêpes, mussels, meat, burgers, pasta, salads, waffles & ice-cream in a very friendly place! Caroline is attentive and yes, she’s French so you can ensure that their crêpes are made in the pure brittany tradition 🙂
With its modern interior of bistro-like eatery, this outpost of a restaurant in Bangsar, is a world away from the average crêperie. For the complete faux-seaside experience, you might start with a pot of Mussels from Chile before indulging in an inventive galette which is the savoury crêpes. Caroline also offers a great variety of main dishes such as Chicken Grill, Burgers, Pasta, Sandwiches, Salads etc… before indulging yourself in their Breton crêpes which are their dessert crêpes!

Chantaco – RM15
Orange juice, lemon juice & Monin Grenadine syrup
I’m usually not a mocktail nor cocktail person but I heart my order of Chantaco! Not too sweet, tangy and definitely addcitive. Haha.

Mussels & Fries Trilogy – RM43
Choose 3 flavours of mussels from either Mariniere, Cream, Curry or Provencales.
We settled for Mariniere, Curry and Provencales. These set is served with fries and refillable bread 🙂
Finally found a place with yummy mussels. Have been hunting down for one ever since we had them in UK & Europe.

Mariniere: Mussels cooked in white wine, butter, garlic, shallots & parsley
Fresh mussels, the traditional cooking using white wine definitely brought out the freshness of the sea. With hints of saltiness and great flavours + aroma from the butter, shallots & garlic.

Curry: Mussels cooked in cream & curry
Our first try on mussels in a pot of curry. Adapting to Malaysians tastebud, we didn’t actually thought of ordering curry. To our surprise, it actually wow-ed us. Creamy, not too spicy & didn’t empower the mussels’ freshness. The sauce went very well with the bread of course!

Provencales: Mussels cooked with tomatoes, herbs & garlic
Our favourite from these 3 selections. Infused with mega flavours thanks to the clever usage of herbs.
Fresh mussels soaked in fresh tomato-based broth with garlic and freshly chopped herbs in the pot of the shell while we suck the mollusk down. There’s no reason not to polish off the whole pot after that!

La Forestierie – RM29
Egg, elemental cheese, sliced chicken, mushrooms in cream & salad. Their savoury crepes is slighy thicker than that of sweet crepes, known as gallete, giving the extra texture. However some may find it chewy. This combo of eggs, mushroom, meat and cheese has all the elements: moist, bite-y & fragrant.

La Thegonnec – RM27
Egg, minced beef with chilli and basil, tomato sauce, onions and salad. Known as one of their spicy specialty but it wasn’t really spicy though. Haha.
