Coffee 5 Cups @ Plaza Damas 3, KL

**CLOSED**

Coffee has been one of our great companion with food, desserts and most importantly loved ones. Chatting over a hot or cold cuppa has also been one of our vital routine these days. Thus, this act of searching more cafes for sharing when we have the time has never been tiring 🙂

The hip coffee places has pretty much populated the area of Publika crawling down to the area of Hartamas as well. At Plaza Damas 3, we’ve just checked out Top Brew and just when we have the thought of trying the Brew Culture, we changed our mind since our Coffee BFFs has been talking about this place:

Coffee 5 Cups!

We’ve heard about their organic coffee beans, thus the curiosity to check them out grew stronger 🙂
This cosy little cafe is manned by a husband and wife team; Jo Hann & Kayo (a Japanese from Hokkaido) and that explains the bear mascot at their cafe (a Hokkaido Bear). Jo Hann is the man behind the kitchen while his lovely wife Kayo play her role as the barista as well as the desserts chef!

In case some of you might want to ask:
Why the name Coffee 5 Cups?
It’s all explained on their wall noting that 5 cups of coffee per day, is the limit for an average person to consume in a day! according to some researchers.

According to Jo Hann, their coffee beans are all organic, handpicked and sent directly from the hilly communities of Bali Indonesia. Thus, only ripe beans are picked by the farmers resulting a richer aroma when you roast them. They get their beans directly from he farmers and therefore they created a “fair trade” cutting out the middleman.

Also, if you would like to hold an event here, e.g birthday parties, baby shower, meetings etc, they have ample space for you as Coffee 5 Cups could provide their open patio with a view of the King’s new palace just right outside the cafe.

  2. A coffee bean is a seed of the coffee plant , and is the source for coffee . It is the pit inside the red or purple fruit often referred to as a cherry. Even though they are seeds, they are incorrectly referred to as ‘beans’ because of their resemblance to true beans . The fruits – coffee cherries or coffee berries – most commonly contain two stones with their flat sides together. A small percentage of cherries contain a single seed, instead of the usual two. This is called a peaberry . Like Brazil nuts (a seed) and white rice, coffee seeds consist mostly of endosperm .

  3. Coffee is a brewed beverage prepared from the roasted seeds of several species of an evergreen shrub of the genus Coffea . The two most common sources of coffee beans are the highly regarded Coffea arabica , and the “robusta” form of the hardier Coffea canephora . The latter is resistant to the coffee leaf rust ( Hemileia vastatrix ), but has a more bitter taste. Coffee plants are cultivated in over 70 countries , primarily in equatorial Latin America , Southeast Asia , Maldives , and Africa . Once ripe, coffee “berries” are picked, processed, and dried to yield the seeds inside. The seeds are then roasted to varying degrees, depending on the desired flavor, before being ground and brewed to create coffee.
