Thirty8 @ Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur: Birthday!

While waiting for more wedding pictures to be compiled properly, December falls in quickly and Chris’s reminder for my birthday rang a bell. Where to bring me for a celebration as his wife this time?
Somewhere higher up?
Somewhere with captivating skyline views?

This chic venue is located on the 38th floor at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, comprising a spacious and posh settings of an area with the 360-degree KL city view. The ambiance was very thoughtful, allowing patrons to be heightened with live cooking show with their open kitchen concept. The kitchen top are adorned with different cooking ingredients, from east to west, including planting their own chili. This could depict that they emphasized on fresh ingredients very much. The first kitchen counter that greeted us was their sashimi; laying beautifully, luring us for an order.

The whole area was comfortably designed and ‘partitioned’ (with no borders of course :P) to different sections: an area with 360-degree city view, the restaurant, wine bar and lounge.

We were here for lunch and thought of having the best of both Asian & Western shares. FYI, Thirty8, offers their diners a great selections of steaks, sushis, seafood as well as Chinese fares, accompanied with the views of iconic Petronas Twin Towers.

Complimentary house Bread with Butter
Very soft bun and unsalted butter ignited our palate while waiting for other dishes.

Caesar salad – RM30
Garden fresh lettuce tossed beautifully with bread crumbs and the hints of saltiness from the cheese was paired beautifully with a little creamy egg drench.

Variation Platter – RM120
I quickly picked my birthday order for some assorted sushi, sashimi and maki-mono. A small order for us both, this serving was really worth what we’re paying for. Fresh. The perfect description for this platter. Thick cuts of sashimis like the salmon, tuna & scallops were literally melting in our mouth.

Grilled Double Lamb Chops – RM120
Chris order of 2 huge slabs of lamb was another right choice. A medium preparation of lamb chops, the meat was tender & juicy with some retention of the char-grill taste winning over the gamie flavour. Drench in some mschroom sauce for better flavours?

Dessert time!
Chris knew I was longing for this special dessert and we ordered this as my birthday cake instead!
THIRTY8 Signature Cake – RM25
We were served with a platter covered with a see-through glass lid. What’s inside? The signature cake in the clouds 🙂
The surrounding mist that was generated from dry ice quickly disappeared leaving behind the beautiful & sexy tower of dark mousse and chocolate cake, served on side with banana ice cream sprinkled with nuts circling it and some raspberries. So luscious, so memorable.
