Ah Weng Kor Hainanese Coffee @ Imbi Market

Having heard so much about Ah Weng Kor Hainanese Coffee so much, we finally made our first trip all the way to KL beating our usual nearby Chinese Kopitiam routine Tung Sing. We usually wouldn’t go far for Chinese coffee, eggs and toast but it’s good to venture around 🙂

For good treat, we are willing to wake up very early 😛
Off to Imbi Wet Market we went. Right in the heart of KL very near to Bukit Bintang, Ah Weng Kor is easily spotted and surrounded with other food stalls. Definitely spoilt with choices to start your day with a hearty breakfast. It was just approximately 7.30am but was already crowded with local folks.

Hainanese Coffee – RM1.60
According to the uncle who served us, Hainanese coffee is actually ‘cham’ with more tea than coffee with thick frothy foam that sits on top.

The hot version tasted better 🙂

Had their toast with butter & kaya. Crispy toasted bread with thick slabs of butter to start our day. Perfectly married with coffee. However, we personally still prefer Tung Sing’s version of crispy on the outside, fragrant kaya and cold butter toast to match with.

I love their soft bun better. Look at the thick slab of butter 🙂

Ah Weng Kor’s Half-boiled eggs are still no match for Tung Sing’s Kampung eggs 😛

Other than these, there are many more to order!
Sister’s Crispy Popiah – RM1.80
The original stall still remains in Imbi Market though there are many other kiosk at major shopping malls. The very first Sister’s crispy popiah we had was in Sister’s Cafe at Menara Hap Seng. We just adore the cripsy bits that they added into their popiah for some added crunch other than usual ingredients of shredded carrots, eggs, grounded peanuts etc.

Chee Cheung Fun (located next to Sister’s Crispy Popiah stall)
A simple order of CCF with sweet & chilli sauce and sesame seeds. Very smooth but the sauce still lack the fragrant taste. Still prefer the Taman Connaught’s version. Oh, we miss that!

Nasi Lemak anyone? 🙂

Our tummy just couldn’t fill in more char kuey teow, porridge and noodles! Perhaps next round to check out others.
Any more recommendations of good kopitiam or more market breakfast? Do let us know!
