MACAU’s Café: Cafe Tai Lei Loi Kei 大利来咖啡室 + Café Ou Mun 澳門咖啡 + Hea Café 家品店

Back to MACAU!
Sorry that we’ve been such a snail in updating about Macau as the wedding date gets near! *bite nails*
Here’s another post on the 3 favourite cafés that we’ve been to in just one day! (Half-a-day i mean)
Refresh: Macau has three distinct areas: Macau Peninsula, Taipa and Coloane.
After our sight seeings and eating spree at the Leitaria I Son (義順牛奶公司) + Tim Fatt Sharkfin House (添發碗仔翅美食) + Oja Sopa De Fita Cheung Kei (祥記麵家) + Koi Kee Bakery (澳門鉅記餅家) over at Macau Peninsula, our journey then adjourned towards the old Village of Taipa (氹仔 – Tam Chai in Cantonese).

We really fell in love with Taipa Village located at the Taipa Island immediately. A fairly small place hidden with big sights. Heritage Houses & Church with romantic touches of the hanging flower pots along the petite streets making it so homely. Though small, the village filled with almost tunnel like roads and streets bounded by some seriously good looking 2-storey dwellings and shophouses

How to get there Taipa Village?
Very easy and it’s FREE!
Remember we blogged about Hotel Sintra? (our accommodation in Macau). Free coaches right in front of are available every 15-30min all the way to Taipa Village.
OR, you could opt to take a bus from the main bus terminal in front of Casino Lisbao.
Both are 20 minutes journey 🙂

Cafes we visited @ Taipa Village

#1 Cafe Tai Lei Loi Kei (大利来咖啡室)
Populared by both locals & visitors, this is a MUST VISIT if you’re at Macau. This place serves great milk tea and highly recommended as the most delicious pork chop buns in Macau!
No, we’re not boasting, as the crispy and succulent pork chop buns are freshly made daily from 3pm onwards and usually sell out by around 5pm!
Note: They do serve other normal variation of pork chop bun with soft bun instead of their freshly made chewy bun before 3pm.
But for their freshly made buns, people are willing queue up even as early as 2!
When we reached, it was already 4pm. All the fresh buns were gone! *gasp*

But still, we manage to try their pork chop buns (with normal soft bun – still as good!)
Tai Lei Loi Kei Pork Chop Bun 大利來記豬扒包 – MOP 20 (RM7.92)
According to the lady boss, what makes their pork chop bun so special are they are pan fried in their own juice and the shop’s special marinate sauce. Sandwiched between the freshly baked bun (heard it’s chewy), it doesn’t need any dressing, sauces or crisp green. As for the normal bun, lightly crispy on the outside and very soft on the inside.

Curry Fishballs 咖喱鱼蛋 -MOP 22 (RM8.71)
Being skeptical towards Hong Kong’s curry fishballs (which we thought they weren’t good as all), we were reluctant to order at first. Since it was recommended by the lady boss, we gave them a try.
To our surprise, it was totally an opposite to the HK’s version. Very bouncy and well infused with the tasty curry gravy. Be warned with their spiciness. Thumbs up!
The lady boss then said, “You know what? These fishballs are from Malaysia!” 😛

** Important Notice: Cafe Tai Lei Loi Kei 大利来咖啡室 had closed early this year and relocated just down the street from Macau Creations near the Ruins of St Paul’s . It’s no longer a cafe in Taipa Village but now a little takeaway shop.
