El Meson: a spanish table @ Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar

We decided to have a rather ‘Spanish’ birthday celebration for the two sweethearts whose birthday fell on the first month of this brand new year.

A cosy celebration for AiWei & WenChing:
our partners in crime…
the culprits who boosted our motivation for more food-hunting…
It’s ok. Cos we still love you!

Feliz cumpleaños girls! It means Happy Birthday in Spanish

We settled for El Meson located on Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar for a warm Spanish dinner. Going easy on our gastro-quota, we started off with some tapas. I adore tapas; small Spanish savoury dishes served from selections of meat, seafood to vegetables. We love it being SMALL… but these small servings would be huge as the variety adds.

I miss Spain. Very badly. And an order of the Iberian pig, very well known to be found at an area in Southwestern Spain seemed a must
Iberico Pork Strips in Honey and Sweet Paprika on Potato – RM24

Chorizos – RM16
Spicy Spanish sausages on Confit potatoes

Parma Ham and Melon with Salad Garnish – RM28
Combination of the melon’s sweet and parma ham’s salty sensation was a perfect match. But we still prefer the version from El Cerdo’s as the melons were a lil’ sweeter.

Paella Mix – RM68 (for 2) *allow 30 mins*
Consists of a blenf of both types:
Paella Valenciana – with Chicken, Pork, Chorizo and Green Beans in rich chicken stock
Paella Marinara – with Mussels, Squid, Prawns, Clams and Halibut in rich seafood and chicken stock

Crema Catalana – RM15
Spanish Crème Brulee served in a small tapas plate

Ultimate Chocolate Molten Lava with Vanilla Ice Cream – RM18
*allow 15 Minutes*
Melted chocolate oozing out when it’s cut. Drench it together with the cold vanilla ice cream was very satisfying.

The ambiance was warm and cosy with bits and pieces of art like the flamenco and fernando that depicted Espanyol. Dine and wine for couples and friends would be a great idea.

Birthday gals gleeing away…… with a toss of Sangria

Foodwise was just mediocre we thought as we find La Bodega did a better job at impressing our palate. This is very subjective and that’s for you to judge. Nevertheless, we still enjoyed ourselves. What’s more with my besties who are always there to share tears and laughter together. Aww……
