Ole-Ole Bali @ Solaris Mont Kiara: Annual Friendship Day

We used to be strangers visiting and commenting on each others blog.
We met up for food review sessions.
We called each other out for more excursions.
Now.
We were strangers growing into a chummy party, celebrating our Annual Friendship Day together.
The BFFs: AiWei, KampungBoyCityGal and SugarBean

1. Just a prologue to our Bali themed night:
As most of you know, Bali is recognized for its diverse and sophisticated art forms, such as sculpture, woodcarving, painting, handcrafts, and performing arts with heavy Balinese influence. Their percussion orchestra music is also highly developed and varied which drew interest of many people around the world.

Authentic Balinese food serve large quantities food and has to be eaten when they are fresh. Often spicy and very tasty, this cuisine suited our appetite comfortably. The Balinese traditionally used banana leaves as plates, eat with their right hand as the left is customarily said to be impure.

2. Atmosphere & Settings

I must admit the ambiance was really themed well. Wood carvings, paintings and sculptures, they have it displayed adorning every corner. Table & chairs with cushions of different panache parked spaciously. The arrangement of lighting on the outside were however poorly lit, but interior wise the lighting beautification were gratifying.

3. Balinese Feast

Ole-Ole Trio – RM38
A combination of Ole-Ole BBQ Wings, Sate Lilit and Cumi-Cumi goreng, served with Sambel Matah, Sambel Terasi and Tartar Sauce. An ideal snack for drinkers 🙂
Sate Lilit contained mixed seafood sate on a lemongrass skewer, which made it evenmore aromatic and tasty. Cumi-Cumi goreng (deep fried squid) were crunchy on the outside, with a chewy and soft texture on the inside.

Nasi Campur Ole-Ole – RM33
A combination of Balinese Grilled Lemongrass Prawns, Squid, Fish, choice of Beef or Chicken Rendang and Sate Lilit, served with Lawar, Sambal Terasi and Sambal Matah.
We heart the fresh squid the most. The light char burn taste were the cream of the crop.
Other meat were also up to standard and the sambals were appetizing too.

These were dressed with Tamarind Peanut dressing.

Barley Lime – RM18 per jug
A definite order to cool down after the char-grilled chow down fares.
