In Search for Halal Dim Sum

hmm, halal dimsum? there’s one restaurant in Ipoh serving them but definitely not on my list. I just love my char siew pau, wu kok, siew mai with juicy pork!

It is not the matter of meat to make a food tastes delicious. The most important is the spices and passionate of the chef in preparing a food. Some places such as mamak or malay specialties do not serve pork but they have a lot of visitors. It is individual preference.

I read posts here and found that some of you are skeptical towards pork-free issues. If you love pork that does not mean everyone must follow your taste. People got freedom, that’s for sure.

To tell you all frankly, besides spices that make a food tastier, the technique in preparing also significant. I know pork is delicious, it is because of the mixture of lean meat and fat resulting in a ‘juicy’ texture. Well, that does not mean others can’t. If you use chicken and marinate with a special tender flour, the meat can be very tasty and juicy too.

I’m not here to insult, judge people or to criticize but this is only my opinion. I’m wondering why do certain chinese lack of general knowledge. You studied in biology that pork carries a kind of dangerous tapeworm called Tenea Solium. Compared to other worms this tapeworm is much more resistant to heat and digestion. That’s why it will stay inside human body. Besides, the chemical structure of pork fat is much much differs from herbivore. Unlike herbivore (such as cow, or goat), pork fat cannot be digested to the smallest unit (fatty acid) in human body. It will eventually accumulate under skin layer and inside arteries, resulting in a increment of high BP possibility.

Also, as for your general knowledge too, pig eats everything including their own faeces (excreta). No matter how you keep them in a hygiene place they still behave filthy by nature.

Too, pig is the most shameless animal on earth. It is the only animal that invites its friends to have sex with its mate. As people always said, “you are what you eat”. So could it be that pork-eating promotes bad culture?

For you to know too, all Abrahamic religions prohibit the consumption of pork. Judaism (Israel Jews) prohibits pork; Christianity in general and Islam in particular prohibits the eating of pork. So we can see that Islam isn’t the only religion prohibits pork. But sadly too see majority of Christians do eat pork on the assumption that it is lawful for them and that the Bible did not prohibit its consumption.

“And the swine, though it divides the hoof, having cloven hooves, yet it does not chew the cud; he is unclean to you. Their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch. They are unclean to you” (Leviticus, Chapter 11:7-8)

I hope for those who have read this will try not to be skeptical and narrow minded particularly issue that associates with pork.

i went there in July 2008. the food was horrible! I shall not go there again!
